ActiveCampaign Alternatives

  • 14-days FREE trial
  • Supports marketing automation, CRM, sales, and more
  • Prebuilt campaigns and workflows to get started
  • Scalable
  • Affordable
  • No setup fee
  • No landing page builder

ActiveCampaign is a comprehensive marketing automation platform that’s a perfect choice for small and large businesses, ecommerce stores, SaaS companies, marketing professionals, bloggers, and everyone who is interested in growing one’s business with marketing automation.

You get a complete email marketing suite, sales, CRM, multichannel marketing and messaging platform, and advanced optimization tools with ActiveCampaign.

It integrates with leading marketing and non-marketing tools which allow you to use ActiveCampaign with your landing page builder like LeadPages to build your email list, get better at PPC, and create killer marketing pages.

ActiveCampaign is a great tool but just in case if you’re interested in ActiveCampaign alternatives that will offer you similar features, this article is for you.

There are a lot of paid as well as free alternatives to ActiveCampaign such as Drip and ConvertKit.

And there are other alternatives to ActiveCampaign that offer you one or more features such as ClickFunnels that is a complete sales funnel creation and management tool for online sellers. These and other alternatives and competitors of ActiveCampaign will be discussed, reviewed, and compared in this article so that you can choose the one that is right for your needs.

DRIP

Drip is an advanced email marketing tool. It is an ecommerce CRM that takes email marketing to a new level.

It is best suited to SaaS companies, ecommerce, online sellers, small and mid-sized businesses that sell digital or physical products online, and marketers.

Drip is a feature-rich alternative to ActiveCampaign and both these tools offer similar features to businesses and marketers

Let’s see how these two platforms compare.

  • FORMS & PAGES
  • EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION
  • PRICING

OPT-IN FORMS AND LANDING PAGES

Drip isn’t a landing page builder. It has a basic opt-in form builder that lets you create simple forms. However, Drip can be integrated with lead generation and landing page building tools like LeadPages, Instapage, and others.

So this is an area where Drip lacks.

ActiveCampaign also has a basic opt-in form builder but it doesn’t have a dedicated landing page building tool. Both Drip and ActiveCampaign can be used with leading landing page builders if you feel the need to have one.

EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION

Drip works great as an email marketing and a marketing automation tool that will take charge of your online business.

It has automated workflows and prebuilt campaigns that make Drip a beginner-friendly email marketing tool. You can choose from hundreds of automated workflows, tweak them as per need, and can get started immediately.

Multichannel marketing is another feature that integrates messages, Facebook ads, and other marketing channels. Tools and features like native integration, purchase intent marketing, content customization, segmentation, conversion tracking, and advanced analytics make Drip a perfect marketing automation solution.

ActiveCampaign, on the other hand, offers all these features and services. You get automated workflows, drip campaigns, email templates, dynamic campaign content, and intelligence-driven campaigns. These email marketing features are very helpful when it comes to growing your business.

ActiveCampaign’s drag-and-drop marketing automation builder is a killer. It fully integrates marketing and sales. Besides, ActiveCampaign offers you with complete sales and CRM solution and messaging platform that’s powered by multichannel marketing.

Machine Learning feature lets you better understand your subscribers so that you can make right decisions at the right time. ActiveCampaign has more features and tools than Drip.

PRICING

Drip has a few great things about its pricing.

First, it has a FREE plan that’s free for the lifetime as long as your subscribers don’t exceed 100.

Second, you can try any paid plan for 14-days at NO COST.

Third, you get access to all the features irrespective of your plan.

The Basic plan is priced at $49 per month. It is suitable for businesses having 101 – 2500 subscribers.

The Pro plan is suitable for 2501 – 5000 subscribers at $99 per month.

The Enterprise plan is a custom plan for 5001+ subscribers. It has custom pricing.

If you switch to annual billing, you get 2-months FREE for your paid plan. ActiveCampaign also has 4 plans but it doesn’t have any free plan. However, you can try your preferred plan for 14-days without ANY COST.

ActiveCampaign charges you on the basis of contacts and you don’t get all the features with low-end plans. As your business grows and you add more contacts, you'll have to upgrade your plan and that’s how you'll get access to advanced features like CRM, attribution, site messaging, and others.

So ActiveCampaign’s pricing is designed for growth and is suitable for all business sizes. The starting price is $15 per month for 500 contacts and it gets as low as $9 per month if you pay annually.

So in terms of pricing, Active Campaign doesn’t come with a free plan but it is way cheaper as compared to Drip, especially if your business grows exponentially.

Verdict

In terms of features, tools, and pricing, ActiveCampaign is far better than Drip. If you have a small ecommerce store, you should go with Drip because you will get access to all the features right from day one.

However, if you have a fairly large business or if you think your business will grow significantly in next few years, you should stick with ActiveCampaign.

ConvertKit

ConvertKit is an email marketing tool built for creators. It is suitable for small to mid-sized businesses that sell online.

It is equally suitable for bloggers, affiliate marketers, ecommerce, SaaS, and any business type. There aren’t any limitations.

So how does it compare to ActiveCampaign?

Let’s see.

  • FORMS & PAGES
  • EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION
  • PRICING

OPT-IN FORMS AND LANDING PAGES

ConvertKit has customizable forms that you can use on your website to convert visitors into subscribers.

You cannot create landing pages because it is strictly an email marketing tool.

So this is an area where ConvertKit and ActiveCampaign are on the same page. They don’t allow you to create landing pages.

This means you'll have to use a third-party landing page builder like LeadPages.

EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION

ConvertKit gives you everything you need for email marketing and to automate your email content.

It is a beginner-friendly email marketing tool that’s too basic and is, therefore, best for small businesses with basic needs.

You can create automated sequence emails with its drag-and-drop interface. You can use events, conditions, and actions to automate your email sequence.

It also supports automation rules like if this, then that.

ConvertKit integrates with 70+ third-party tools and offers you with an API. So it is a beginner-level email marketing and automation tool that’s best for small businesses.

ActiveCampaign is, undoubtedly, better rather superior to ConvertKit in every aspect be it features, tools, integrations, automation, and more. ConvertKit is best for beginners while ActiveCampaign is for intermediate and advanced users who need more than simple email marketing tool.

PRICING

ConvertKit pricing is based on the number of subscribers. For businesses having 1 – 1000 subscribers, they're charged $29 per month and for 3000 – 5000 subscribers, the price reaches $79 a month.

ConvertKit offers a FREE trial for 14-days which gives you a good idea of how the system works.

The best thing about ConvertKit’s pricing model is that you get all the features with all the plans.

If you switch to annual billing, the starting price gets as low as $24 per month. ActiveCampaign has a starting price of $29 a month for up to 1000 contacts and this goes as low as $17 a month if you switch to annual billing.

Verdict

ActiveCampaign is affordable and at the same time, it gives you better features and tools that are far better than what you get with ConvertKit.

ConvertKit, however, is beginner-friendly. If you haven’t used an email marketing software in the past and you’re in the learning phase, you should better stick with ConvertKit.

As your business grows and you need more features, you can switch to an advanced email marketing tool like ActiveCampaign.

ClickFunnels

ClickFunnels is a sales funnel creation and management platform that comes loaded with several tools and amazing features.

It is a perfect platform for online sellers that will help them market, sell, deliver, and manage digital products.

It isn’t specifically an email marketing and automation tool but it can be integrated with an email marketing tool to make it even better.

  • FORMS & PAGES
  • EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION
  • PRICING

OPT-IN FORMS AND LANDING PAGES

ClickFunnels offers you with several tools including a landing page builder.

It doesn’t have one of those fancy drag-and-drop landing page builders that you get with LeadPages or Instapage but it does offer a basic builder.

ClickFunnels allows you to choose a landing page template based on your funnel. You can tweak your landing page and customize it the way you like.

ActiveCampaign doesn’t have this feature, unfortunately. You can only create basic opt-in forms with Active Campaign.

EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION

ClickFunnels offer you with basic email marketing and sequence service that works with your funnel.

You can send welcome emails, thank you emails, and you can segment customers based on interests and purchases.

If you need more flexibility, you can integrate your favorite autoresponder with it such as ConvertKit or Drip.

ClickFunnels is great at marketing automation. It provides you with a little bit of everything and this makes it a great solution for small businesses, bloggers, and digital product sellers.

It gives you full control over all types of marketing pages (not just landing pages) and you can create all types of funnels even if you haven’t created one in the past.

This is one area where ClickFunnels beats ActiveCampaign by a big margin. While ActiveCampaign will provide you with everything you need in terms of email marketing and automation but it doesn’t let you create smart funnels.

PRICING

ClickFunnels isn’t cheap.

Of course, you get 14-days FREE ClickFunnels trial but you'll have to pay $97 per month for the basic package where you'll get 20 funnels, 100 pages, and 20K visitors a month.

Access to all the features comes at a cost of $297 a month.

ClickFunnels isn’t a cheap alternative to ActiveCampaign. In fact, it is no way near.

Besides, if you need an email marketing tool, it will add more bucks to your monthly plan so it gets expensive. But if you’re interested in creating professional funnels with extreme ease, ClickFunnels is your best bet.

Verdict

Ask yourself, what you need?

If you’re interested in creating killer funnels for your business, get ClickFunnels without wasting a minute. However, if you’re interested in email marketing and automation that grows with your business, get ActiveCampaign.

If you know what you’re buying, you’re all set.

GetResponse

GetResponse is an all-in-one marketing platform that helps you grow your business.

It offers you with email marketing, webinars, landing page builder, and complete marketing automation. GetResponse is suitable for all types of businesses and marketers because it has designed its packages smartly (more on this coming soon).

GetResponse is one of the most cost-effective alternatives to ActiveCampaign. But how does it compare to ActiveCampaign?

Let’s explore.

  • FORMS & PAGES
  • EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION
  • PRICING

OPT-IN FORMS AND LANDING PAGES

GetResponse is one of the few email marketing platforms that have its landing page builder.

It lets you create mobile-responsive landing pages like a pro. It has numerous templates to choose from which can be customized with its drag-and-drop landing page builder.

You can publish landing pages on your own domain or on a GetResponse subdomain for FREE.

The best part: You can A/B test your landing pages to improve conversions.

ActiveCampaign doesn’t come with a landing page builder so GetResponse is a better option so far.

EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION

GetResponse has multiple marketing tools including email marketing, marketing automation, webinars, CRM, autoresponder, and enterprise solutions.

This makes it a perfect marketing automation platform for any business and/or marketer.

The email marketing platform offers you with 500+ predesigned email templates, more than 1000 stock images, a drag-and-drop autoresponder builder, and more.

One of the best things about GetResponse email marketing is their deliverability that stands at 99%.

Marketing automation tool lets you create powerful workflows with its drag-and-drop builder. You can use conditions, actions, and filters to create workflows that go best with your business needs. Marketing automation tool is perfect for ecommerce as it helps you with cart abandonment, lead nurturing, and conversion optimization.

You get most of these features and tools with ActiveCampaign as well. GetResponse offers you with webinars as an additional feature that you don’t get with ActiveCampaign.

PRICING

GetResponse offers you with 30-days FREE trial and this is amazing.

While all the other alternatives including ActiveCampaign give FREE trials of 14 days, GetResponse takes the lead.

There are 4 packages to choose from. The starting price is $15 per month for 1000 subscribers.

You don’t get access to all the features with this plan though.

If you wish to get access to the autoresponder, advanced landing pages, webinars, CRM, ecommerce, and marketing automation, you have to switch to Pro plan that is priced at $49 a month and is suitable for a list size of 5K and above.

GetResponse is one of the best and a cheaper alternative to Active Campaign because you have to pay $29 a month for 1000 subscribers with ActiveCampaign and you don’t get a landing page builder.

Verdict

GetResponse is definitely a complete marketing automation package that gives you everything to run your business ranging from landing pages to autoresponders to ecommerce solution to CRM and beyond.

You get better features and tools with GetResponse and if you’re a small business owner or run an ecommerce store, GetResponse should be your priority.

ActiveCampaign should be your preference if you’re an advanced marketer or if you own a medium or large-sized business where you need to focus exclusively on advanced marketing automation.

Infusionsoft

Infusionsoft is a sales and marketing software for small businesses.

Yes, Infusionsoft is for small businesses only.

It offers multiple tools and features ranging from CRM to marketing automation to online sales and more.

Let’s learn more about ActiveCampaign vs Infusionsoft.

  • FORMS & PAGES
  • EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION
  • PRICING

OPT-IN FORMS AND LANDING PAGES

Infusionsoft has a drag-and-drop landing page builder that lets you create stunning landing pages in minutes.

Not just landing pages but you can create mobile responsive opt-in forms that can be integrated with your website.

Choose a template, tweak it, and you’re done.

Since ActiveCampaign doesn’t have a landing page builder so Infusionsoft takes the lead here.

EMAIL MARKETING AND AUTOMATION

Infusionsoft is great at automating small businesses with its unique features and easy-to-use automation tools.

The email marketing solution lets you create targeted campaigns. It supports A/B testing, automated messages, and fully integrates with your CRM.

The marketing automation combines all the features and services at a single place.

So you create landing pages, build your email list, convert subscribers into customers with email campaigns, analyze and tweak, and grow your business.

Since Infusionsoft is designed for small businesses, therefore, its features and tools are too basic, user-friendly, and easy-to-use. On the other hand, ActiveCampaign is geared towards advanced users. You get better features and advanced tools with ActiveCampaign.

PRICING

Infusionsoft comes with a FREE 14-days trial.

However, this is the only tool in this list that comes with a whopping $299 one-time setup fee.

The starting price for 500 contacts is $50 per month and if you wish to add ecommerce and sales pipeline as well, it will jump to $109 a month.

Infusionsoft is an expensive alternative to ActiveCampaign, I must say.

Verdict

Infusionsoft is suitable for small businesses that need an all-in-one marketing solution where they can control everything from a single dashboard. If there is one thing that’s best about Infusionsoft, it is its ease-of-use.

However, it isn’t designed to scale. You cannot use it once your business grows. And if you'll stick with it as your business grows, it will get too expensive. ActiveCampaign isn’t this simple but it is definitely affordable and scalable. Plus, it is suitable for all business sizes.

FINAL WORDS

These marketing tools offer you a lot in terms of marketing automation but not each of these tools is for everyone. The idea is to help you choose the most appropriate tool for your business. I hope this article will help you with it.

Have you used any of these tools?

If not, what marketing tools and platforms have you used?
